From Goodreads:
Meghan Chase has a secret destiny; one she could never have imagined.

Something has always felt slightly off in Meghan's life, ever since her father disappeared before her eyes when she was six. She has never quite fit in at school or at home.

When a dark stranger begins watching her from afar, and her prankster best friend becomes strangely protective of her, Meghan senses that everything she's known is about to change.

But she could never have guessed the truth - that she is the daughter of a mythical faery king and is a pawn in a deadly war. Now Meghan will learn just how far she'll go to save someone she cares about, to stop a mysterious evil, no faery creature dare face; and to find love with a young prince who might rather see her dead than let her touch his icy heart

I have been hearing about The Iron King for a while now and I finally got around to reading it. I did not read the description of the book prior to reading, and I went in basically only knowing the book involved faeries.

I did enjoy reading this book! Some pros: I Love Puck!! He is so sweet and makes me laugh. This book has A Midsummer's Night Dream tie ins, which I like. This book was a fairy tale-like read and the very beginning of the book reminds me of Alice in Wonderland/Wizard of Oz/Spiderwick Chronicles mashup. And I really enjoyed the description of the time when the characters were in New Orleans. I have never been there, but now I'd like to visit. Some cons: The protagonist is a sixteen-year-old girl, yet sometimes she sounds very young. The middle and end of the book moved kind of slow, and was not as fun for me to read as the beginning. One thing that really irritated me was the insta-love between Meghan and
*SPOILER ALERT*
Ash. I felt like one minute she was talking about how attractive she thought he was and the next she was talking about how in love with him she was. Hopefully in the next books, she will go into further depth of why she loves him besides his looks.
Overall, I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the next one!

Boomerang by Noelle August

Boomerang by Noelle August-Review

Boomerang by Noelle August
Published by: HarperCollins Publishers on July 8th, 2014
Format: eBook
Genre: New Adult
Source: Purchased
Rating: 4/5 stars

From Goodreads:
The first book in a sensational New Adult trilogy from Noelle August

Welcome to Boomerang.com, the dating site for the millennial gen with its no-fuss, no-commitments matchups, and where work is steamier than any random hook-up

Mia Galliano is an aspiring filmmaker. Ethan Vance has just played his last game as a collegiate soccer star. They’re sharp, hungry for success, and they share a secret.

Last night, Ethan and Mia met at a bar, and, well . . . one thing led to another, which led to them waking up the next morning—together. Things turned awkward in a hurry when they found themselves sharing a post hookup taxi . . . to the same place: Boomerang headquarters.

What began as a powerful connection between them is treated to a cold shower courtesy of two major complications. First, Boomerang has a strict policy against co-worker dating. And second, they’re now competitors for only one job at the end of summer.

As their internships come to an end, will they manage to keep their eyes on the future and their hands off each other, or will the pull of attraction put them right back where they started?

Noelle August, the author of this book, is a pen name for authors Veronica Rossi and Lorin Oberweger. I have read the Under the Never Sky trilogy by Veronica Rossi and I love those books! So, when I heard that Veronica Rossi was writing something new, I became very excited! I had read very little NA before, having always stuck to YA. So, personally, I was not a big fan of all of the sensual things happening in this book. However, that might be a personal thing for me. I did really enjoy the two characters Mia and Ethan and the alternating point of view. Also, the story line was original and cute. I'd recommend this book to any NA  and maybe even Adult fan!

I know this review is awfully short, but I feel there is not much more to say. It's a cute book that I enjoyed reading and will probably read the sequel to in the future.

Robin

If I Stay by Gayle Forman

If I Stay by Gayle Forman-Review

If I Stay by Gayle Forman
Published by: Dutton Juvenile on April 2nd, 2009
Format: Paperback
Genre: Young Adult Fiction
Source: Purchased
Rating: 4/5 stars

From Goodreads:
Just listen, Adam says with a voice that sounds like shrapnel.

I open my eyes wide now.
I sit up as much as I can.
And I listen.

Stay, he says.

Choices. Seventeen-year-old Mia is faced with some tough ones: Stay true to her first love—music—even if it means losing her boyfriend and leaving her family and friends behind?

Then one February morning Mia goes for a drive with her family, and in an instant, everything changes. Suddenly, all the choices are gone, except one. And it's the only one that matters.

If I Stay is a heartachingly beautiful book about the power of love, the true meaning of family, and the choices we all make.

About a year and a half ago, I had been hearing great things about If I Stay and decided to check it out. At that time, I was preoccupied with school and family, and just wasn't getting into the story. I put it down after a couple of pages, unsure if I would decide to continue reading or not. Then, this summer, after watching the BEAUTIFUL movie trailer, I decided to try again and I am so glad that I did.

If I Stay is narrated through the perspective of Mia, a seventeen-year-old cellist prodigy. She lives in Oregon with her rocker parents and little brother, Teddy. She has a best friend named Kim and a musician boyfriend named Adam. After a horrible accident, she has to choose whether she wants to live or die.

Gayle Forman's writing style is unique. It is very easy on the eyes and sweet, while at the same time full of meaning and emotion. She used great imagery! I felt like I could picture where Mia lived and what her school and home were like.

Music is a huge component in this story, and Gayle Forman did an excellent job of integrating it. She seems very knowledgable in all different types of genres, and none of the pieces of music that Mia and other characters in the book play or listen to feel out of place or wrong.

Overall, this book was such a sweet yet deep read. Full of love, hope, heartbreak, and more. If I Stay by Gayle Forman is not one to miss.

Love,
Robin

Landline by Rainbow Rowell

Landline by Rainbow Rowell-Review

Landline by Rainbow Rowell
Published by: St. Martin's Press on July 8th, 2014
Format: Hardcover
Genre: Adult Fiction

Rating: 5/5 stars

From Goodreads:
Georgie McCool knows her marriage is in trouble. That it’s been in trouble for a long time. She still loves her husband, Neal, and Neal still loves her, deeply — but that almost seems besides the point now.

Maybe that was always besides the point.

Two days before they’re supposed to visit Neal’s family in Omaha for Christmas, Georgie tells Neal that she can’t go. She’s a TV writer, and something’s come up on her show; she has to stay in Los Angeles. She knows that Neal will be upset with her — Neal is always a little upset with Georgie — but she doesn’t expect to him to pack up the kids and go home without her.

When her husband and the kids leave for the airport, Georgie wonders if she’s finally done it. If she’s ruined everything.

That night, Georgie discovers a way to communicate with Neal in the past. It’s not time travel, not exactly, but she feels like she’s been given an opportunity to fix her marriage before it starts . . .

Is that what she’s supposed to do?

Or would Georgie and Neal be better off if their marriage never happened?

First of all, RAINBOW ROWELL IS AMAZING. Seriously, I love reading all of her books! Landline was no exception to this. It was such a sweet and heartwarming read that left me feeling so happy and refreshed. I laughed, cried, and had all of the feels.

The two main characters in the book, Georgie and Neal, were lovely and relatable. The way Rowell described her characters' facial expressions, thoughts, and actions made me feel like I could see them and be in their story. Their issues do not seem over exaggerated or ridiculous; they are dealing with problems many couples experience. Being young and never having been in a serious relationship myself, I could not quite easily relate to these as issues as perhaps a husband or wife might be able to. However, I was still able to enjoy the book. There were many sweet and touching moments that left me buzzing.

*Mild SPOILER*
Also, towards the end of the book, Rowell left a lovely surprise for her readers. Two other characters from one of Rowell's previous books made a guest appearance. Seeing these two characters again made my heart burst.
*End of Mild SPOILER*

All I can say is that if you're thinking of reading Landline, do it! It is so amazing and you won't regret it! A heartwarming read that makes you feel all of the things, Rowell's Landline is one that will linger in your heart.

Love,
Robin
